Portmeirion

One of the places I really wanted to visit when we were in the UK was Portmeirion, the location for cult sixties show “The Prisoner” starring Patric McGoohan (yup that really was his name). Video after the jump.

The backdrop for the show was the stunningly bizare villiage of Porteirion on the west coast of Wales.  Designed by Sir Clough Williams-Ellis, this home grown fantasy was loosely based on the Italian town of Portofino.  He said “How should I not have fallen for Portofino? Indeed its image remained with me as an almost perfect example of the man-made adornment and use of an exquisite site…”
